Sable Island Horse Project Summit 2026

On April 13–14, we hosted our colleagues from the University of Saskatchewan at the University of Calgary’s Foothills Campus for the Sable Island Horse Project Summit.

It was especially valuable to present the progress of my project to a wider audience and have a fruitful discussion afterwards. Hearing about other branches of research within the Sable Island Horse Project was just as rewarding, and gave me a broader perspective on the work we are doing together.

Over the two days, we had fruitful discussions on both academic and organizational questions. Alongside research presentations and conversations about manuscripts and connections across datasets, we discussed data management, collaboration between our universities, fieldwork, training and mentorship.

The Sable Island Horse Project turns 20 in 2027—a milestone to look forward to as we continue this collaboration. See you in Saskatchewan in 2027!
